Pi Mai Lao, otherwise known as Lao New Year, is a festival celebrated at the hottest time of the year – which is just as well, because most people remain drenched with water for the majority of the event. It’s known as the festival of water fights but there are lots of other cultural activities:
*A water fight like no other
*Elephant Procession and Elephant Baci Ceremony
*A Giant Sand stupa in Chomphet district
*The moving of Prabang and Grand parade that run over the week and there are many reasons why it’s a festival ‘not to be missed’!
Where: on the main street, start from Wat That Noy until the end of pinisular and on the Mekong street.
When: from April 11 – 20, 2018 (for the parade is on 15th and 16th)
